Formlabs Nylon 11 SLS Powder is a strong and highly flexible bio-sourced material. It is ideal for robust, bio-compatible parts that need to bend or withstand impact.

Compared to Nylon 12, Nylon 11 can withstand more than twice as much impact and bend four times as far with comparable flexibility and tensile strength. However, Nylon 11 is less suitable for use in higher temperatures and requires a nitrogen supply via cylinders or a generator.

Formlabs Nylon 11 distinguishes itself from other plastics in that it is not made from petrochemicals, but from castor oil harvested from the Ricinus schrub. Nylon 11 is therefore a bioplastic.

Nylon 11 is much more resistant to deformation than Nylon 12, making it ideal for parts used by people such as:

Prosthetics
Orthoses
Sports equipment: ski clips, protective equipment

Nylon 11 is also available as an carbon fiber reinforced material. As an alternative to Nylon 11, Formlabs also offers Formlabs Nylon 12 Tough.

Printing tips

Buildchamber atmosphere

Nylon 11 requires an inert atmosphere to print effectively. This is possible in the Formlabs Fuse 1+ thanks to its special gaz connector and a nitrogen supply via a gas cylinder or a generator such as the FLAIRMO N2G-15C.
